Listen: George Strait Releases New Song ‘Codgio,’ An Ode To Tequila
George Strait will join fellow Texas music legend Willie Nelson for the concert of a lifetime early next year. But before we get to the big night, Strait has been dropping some pretty big hints that new music is around the corner.
Today, the King of Country has delivered, releasing his latest single “Código.” A Southern flair meets Mexican tequila in this wistful ode to the golden elixir. Strait happens to be a partner in and longtime fan of Código tequila, so he wrote about it with longtime collaborator Dean Dillon. Accordion, guitar, and fiddle make the track sound like a late summer afternoon.
“A little sip and you’re ready to roll…I’m talkin’ ’bout Código,” he sings. The new track is George’s first new release since 2015. Let’s hope that means a new album is on the way!
See George Strait perform at Willie: Life & Songs Of An American Outlaw in Nashville on January 12, 2019. The evening will be filmed and recorded for a major special on A&E Networks next year. Click here for more information about the show.
