Neil Young And Willie Nelson To Star In New Western Film, ‘Paradox’

Neil Young is setting down his guitar for a moment to star in an upcoming movie alongside outlaw country great, Willie Nelson. No, it’s not just another concert film — it’s a full blown western.

Details are slim, but as Rolling Stone reports, director Daryl Hannah’s upcoming flick Paradox looks to mix-up the genre with some time-bending and a cast of musician actors.

“Time is fluid in this far-fetched, whimsical western tale of music and love,” a plot description from the filmmakers reads. “Somewhere in the future past, The Man In the Black Hat hides out between heists at an old stagecoach stop with Jail Time, the Particle Kid, and an odd band of outlaws. Mining the detritus of past civilizations, they wait… for the Silver Eagle, for the womenfolk, and for the full moon’s magic to give rise to the music and make the spirits fly.”

If you noticed any familiar names in there, it’s no coincidence. Paradox will also star Willie’s sons Lukas Nelson (of Promise of the Real) and Micah Nelson, also known as Particle Kid.

The film is set to premiere at SXSW this March. We’ve been lucky enough to see Young and the Nelsons on our inaugural Outlaw Music Festival stage and subsequent tours, and can’t wait to see this merry band of bandits on the silver screen together.
