Sturgill Simpson To Star In New CBS Crime Drama ‘One Dollar’
You’ve seen Sturgill Simpson all summer long on the Outlaw Music Festival Tour ripping it up on guitar while singing cuts from his three critically acclaimed albums. But Stu’s about to embark on something wholly different – acting. As Rolling Stone reports, Simpson is set to play his first television character in the upcoming CBS series One Dollar. The show’s official synopsis:
One Dollar is a mystery set in a small rust belt town in post-recession America, where a one-dollar bill changing hands connects a group of characters involved in a shocking multiple murder. The path of the dollar bill and point of view in each episode paint a picture of a modern American town with deep class and cultural divides that spill out into the open as the town’s secrets get revealed.
Simpson plays Ken Fry, an out-of-work steelworker who’s turned to a life of crime, fencing stolen goods. A pretty good role for a country outlaw, one might say. One Dollar begins August 30 on CBS’s streaming subscription service. Check out the official trailer below and stick around till the end to hear Sturgill say “We’re all doomed.”
